Boxee发布了其1.5版本的用于Mac、Windows和Linux桌面之上的免费多媒体软件。与此同时，它宣布将于2012年1月停止对Boxee桌面软件的服务。取而代之，该公司将会集中力量开发D-Link等Boxee机顶盒产品。

正如下图所示，你既可以在PC上安装前述的Boxee软件以享受Boxee提供的视频服务，又可以购买其专用硬件。Boxee已将重点放在了后者上面。
