Most of the first batch of TD-CMMB mobile phones coming into the market use platforms of Innofidei,Telepath and Spreadtrum. Telepath cooperates with New Postcom, Spreadtrum cooperates with Lenovo and the others are platforms of Innofidei.

然而，CMMB最大的市场并不在TD手机，而是在灰色市场的GSM/GPRS手机，这一市场目前创毅视讯占了较大优势，因为MTK平台主要与创毅平台在匹配，为此，创毅的CMMB芯片价格之高也是业界共认的。据悉截止目前，创毅CMMB解调芯片报价仍是15美元，加上Tuner、CP和外围，实现CMMB功能需要增加约22美元。“我们为推动CMMB市场做了很多前期投入，考虑到这些投入，我们觉得这个定位是合适的。”创毅视讯的负责人表示，“且从目前来看，创毅的平台最稳定。”前不久，该公司在深圳召开的一个用户大会上还号召终端厂商不要打价格战，目标则是希望维持较高的芯片价格。
However, the biggest market of CMMB is not TD mobile phones, but GSM/GPRS mobile phones in the grey market, where currently Innofidei occupies a bigger share, for MTK platform matches mainly with platform of Innofidei. Therefore, it is well-known that price of CMMB chips by Innofidei is very high. It is learned that up to now, quaotation of CMMB demodulating chips by Innofidei is still USD15. Together with Tunner,CP and peripherals, about USD22 is shall be increased to realize this function. “ We have invested a lot to push forward CMMB market at the first stage, so we think this pricing is appropriate considering this investment”, responsible person of Innofidei said, “and up to now, platform of Innofidei is the most stable.” Not long ago, the company called on terminal manufacturers not to combat with each other in terms of price at a users’ meeting in Shenzhen, with the purpose of maintaining high price of chips.

该公司目前是DVB-T和DVB-H市场的主要IC供应商，但是由于欧美市场DVB-H开展得并不理想，并且据说他们被另一家竞争对手打得很惨，因此，中国的CMMB可以说是他们完成凤凰涅磐的一次机会，“我们花了18月的时间开发出现在的CMMB芯片，全部IP都是自己研发的，没有向第三方购买，因此我们的价格非常具有竞争性。”Siano中国区总经理王渭对《国际电子商情》记者表示。
Currently the company is the major IC supplier of DVB-T and DVB-H market. However, due to their poor exploration of European and North American markets of DVB-H, and their failure to compete with another rival, CMMB market in China is their opportunity to prevail. “We spent 18 months developing current CMMB chips and all IPs are developed by our own without purchasing from a third party, so our price is very competitive.” Wang Wei, general manager of Chinese region of Siano told the journalist of ESMC.

After the establishment of Siano, it put out SIP(SMS1180) integrating Tuner and demodulator, with size of only 6.5×6.5mm and power of only 31mw. The most important is that it directly reduced quotation of this SIP[FS:Page] to USD12. The current price of Tuner being USD2-2.5, calculated in principle, it is USD5(15+2-12)lower than the solution of Innofidei. “ Moreover, our SIP integrates several peripheral interfaces including USB controller, so it needs just a few peripheral elements,” said Wang Wei. SIP solution is also welcomed by design companies of China, for it is more convenient for design. Wang Wei also told the journalist that this SIP could also support 40 time slots in the standard, which is beyond the ability of many rivals.

The world has changed indeed. It was European and North American manufacturers that entered the market and maintained a high profit margin before and then Chinese manufacturers entered and killed the price. Now it is just the opposite. Overseas manufacturers also use the weapon to kill price. I predict that price of our SIP chips will be reduced to USD10 in February next year and it will be reduced to below USD5 in the second half of next year.” According to Wang Wei, present business of Siano is very good. CMMB dongle will be put into mass production in August and CMMB mobile phones will be put into mass production in September. “Some companies think that yield rate of SIP is low which will have impact on the cost. We have not encountered the problem, for this model of CMMB chip is our third generation of SIP and we have commercialized SIP in our DVB-H and DVB-T products before.”

对于CMMB芯片的价格下降趋势，泰合志恒经理李群也表示认可。“半导体厂商的利润从芯片生产成本很容易[page]就可以看了来，价格最终是由市场决定。”李群说道：“我认为明年，CMMB芯片厂商的毛利润会下降至50%左右。”看来，泰合志恒已作好了价格大战的准备。市场传言，目前泰合志恒的芯片供不应求，对此李群并没有否认，她补充说：“用户的需求很急，给我们的交货期也很短，一般为2-4周，有时甚至恨不得一周交货。”她补充道：“我们已调整备货与预期，不过，我认为真正上量要到9、10月份。”她称，泰合志恒的第二代CMMB芯片将于年底推出，并且，他们也推出将Tuner与解调器封装在一起的MCP方案。只不过，Tuner是来自第三方。这方面Siano明显占优势，因为Tuner与解调器全是自己的产品。且Siano芯片采用的是90nm工艺。
For the declining trend of price for CMMB chips, Li Qun, manager of Telepath showed her acknowledgement. “Profit margin of manufacturers of semi-conductors can be easily seen from production cost of chips, and price is decided by the market, after all,” said Li Qun, “ In my opinion, gross profit of manufacturers of CMMB chips will be reduced to about 50%.” It se[FS:Page]ems that Telepath has made preparations for a price war. There is a rumor that supply of chips by Telepath can’t meet the demand, which Li Qun didn’t deny. She added, “ We have made adjustment of our stock and expectation. However, I think the real mass production will be in September and October”. According to her, the second generation of CMMB chips of Telepath will come out at the end of this year, and they will put out MCP solution that Tunner is packed with demodulator, except that Tuner comes from a third party. Saino has remarkable advantage in this aspect, for Tuner and demodulator are both their own products, and 90nm technique is adopted for Siano chips.
