EE has launched a new multi-million channel brand campaign to promote that its 4G network has been independently verified (Speedtest by Ookla) as 50 percent faster 

 

than O2, Vodafone and 3 UK. The first ad sees EE brand ambassador Kevin Bacon hosting a spoof TV show called 'It's a No Brainer'. He is joined by special guests 

 

Stephen Fry and Rachel Riley who will each, in turn, try to unravel the mystery of why consumers would choose to be on any other network.

 

The second ad in the series will launch shortly after and features Stephen Fry, who is asked by Bacon to find one word to sum up why anyone would choose a slower 

 

network. The series of 30 second ads will kick off from Friday 18 March, and will premier during primetime TV show Gogglebox on Channel 4.

Kenya reviews ICT laws to regulate OTT firms and MVNOs

Kenya's ICT Minister is reviewing sector guidelines to bring over-the-top (OTT) services such as Whatsapp and Facebook under regulation, as telecom operators complain 

 

of unfair competition. ICT Cabinet Secretary Joe Mucheru said the new National ICT Sector Policy Guidelines will also dictate practices for mobile virtual network 

 

service operators (MVNO) such as Equitel, the Daily Nation reported.

 

Local firms have complained of Facebook, WhatsApp and Viber eating into their revenues, even though they are not subject to local taxes. The operators also say that 

 

OTT companies do not have infrastructure, yet they compete unfairly by offering same voice and text services.

 

The entry of US video streaming service Netflix, as well as US online taxi firm Uber, caused existing players to demand a fair playing field. Mucheru said that these 

 

firms will be clustered in three sectors for ease of regulations and effective operations. In state governance, the policy will dictate a central office controlling 

 

all ICT functions. This was earlier proposed, but has been tough to implement.

T-Mobile US will open pre-orders for the LG G5 from 29 March. The phone will launch on 1 April nationwide. Customers buying the device before 17 April will get a free
