【MVNO国际快报】Telstra预付费用户接连两次通信中断

 

 

据zdnet.com报道，澳大利亚运营商Telstra的用户在短短一个月之内已经第二次无法拨通电话了。预付费用户在3月2日早上的时候无法通话，也无法使用数据流量。一直到9点Telstra恢复数据，随后一小时恢复正常通话。

 

Telstra发言人表示，目前尚不清楚究竟有多少用户受到此次通信中断影响，有些人可能仍然无法拨通海外电话。上个月，Telstra在国内发生通信中断状况，全国范围内2G、3G、4G网络，全国宽带网络、ADSL、以及PSTN网络均中断无法使用，这一切皆是由于“尴尬的人为错误”。10个移动节点中的一个被拆卸以后，正确的程序没有被执行。

Customers of Australian operator Telstra have been unable to make calls or access data for the second time in less then a month, zdnet.com reports. Prepaid mobile customers were left without phone or data services early on 2 March before Telstra managed to restore data by 09.00 hours and calls an hour later.

 

According to a Telstra spokesperson, it was unclear how many prepaid customers were affected by the outage and some may still have problems making overseas calls. Last month, Telstra suffered a national outage on its 2G, 3G, 4G, National Broadband Network, ADSL, and PSTN networks across the country, due to what it dubbed an "embarrassing human error". It occurred when the correct procedure was not followed after one of the 10 mobile nodes was taken down.

然而，Nicholas说公司一开始是想在更大的市场推出服务的，现在在一些小国家推行将会呈现一种比较密集的现象。他更进一步说到，FreedomPop的投资人对于低ARPU值的国家不感兴趣。这又增加了在欧洲扩展的难度。像美国、英国这样信用卡很普及的国家更有吸引力。

 

据了解，FreedomPop目前在美国和英国发展良好，在原生市场，将近50%的用户转变为使用付费服务的用户，在英国则近40%。在美国，ARPU值差不多达到15美元。英国市场与美国比较类似，这也是为啥FreedomPop首先选择英国作为首个扩展市场的原因。在英国免费服务有每个月用户享有200分钟通话时长，200条短讯服务，以及200M流量。前1000名用户，享有保险的1G包，平时每个月要8.99英镑呢。

US-based MVNO FreedomPop raised in January USD 50 million to expand its services in Europe, Asia and South America. Last year it launched in its first markets outside the US, the UK. However, Europe is not at the top of the list for expansion, according to Nicholas Constantinopoulus, responsible for Europe at FreedomPop, in an interview with Telecompaper. 

 

The company is in talks with European players, but he declined to say which. He confirmed an initial agreement was signed with Belgian operator Telenet, the new owner of Base. FreedomPop already announced a deal with Base in mid-2014 to launch in Belgium, but nothing has materialised since. Constantinopoulus said Belgium and the Netherlands, where Base's former parent company KPN is based, are expected to come up on the agenda "later this year". 

 

However, the company first wants to target bigger markets, and the launch in smaller countries will occur in cluster fashion, he said. Furthermore, he noted that FreedomPop's investors are not as interested in low-ARPU countries, making Europe difficult for expansion. Countries where the use of credit cards is common, like the UK and US, are also more attractive, he said. 

 

According to Constantinopoulus, the company is doing well in the US and UK. In its home market, it's converting almost 50 percent of customers to paid services, and in the UK, the rate is at 40 percent. In the US, the company is generating ARPU of around USD 15. The UK market is similar to the US, said Constantinopoulus, which is why the company launched there first. The free offer in the UK is 200 minutes, 200 SMS and 200 MB per month. The first 10,000 customers are offered the Premium 1GB package, which normally costs GBP 8.99 per month.

Representatives of virtual operator Studentfone and its carrier network Vodafone Czech Republic have agreed that Vodafone can serve its young customers more efficiently. As a result, the termination of service provision under the brand Studentfone will take effect on 30 April.
